Veldt Faeries women’s micro rib raglan baby tee
Veldt Faeries are only seen on the darkest of nights, dancing in flight among the Acacia trees of the African veldt, a dance that gives health and vitality to the land and its people.
"Veldt Faeries" is my first digital painting of 2026. It is in no way conceived or generated by ai. This drawing was made with love for everyone of course, but specifically for Black women everywhere. This drawing is meant to honor and compel your sense of being represented and appreciated, in all art and genre forms.
I recall the overwhelming emotion I felt on seeing the first 'Black Panther' superhero film, from the sheer awe of seeing a major studio film in which the narrative is driven almost entirely by Black characters. Folks who don't like that sort of thing know what they can do.
Most importantly, my mother suggested to me some months before she passed from pancreatic cancer, that I should do a painting of Black faeries, to spark the imaginations and sense of being seen for girls and women who almost never see themselves represented in popular art media, especially in genre forms. This is a drawing I did with her imagined observation in mind. What she would hopefully like.
Thanks for supporting my art, and love and respect to Black women everywhere!
